Belfast Launch Party

  • Tom's 173 Ardenlee Avenue Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT6 0AE United Kingdom (map)

Guzzle is landing in Belfast to celebrate the release of its third print issue, A Hunger for Home. To mark the occasion, the team is collaborating with chef and Guzzle writer Phillip McCrilly.

Phillip will serve up cheese toasties brimming with the good stuff, made with ingredients sourced as locally as possible. The menu draws on memories from Phil's mum’s kitchen, where formative cooking lessons arrived quietly through second helpings of a favourite dish rather than any fanfare. He has also taken inspiration from Sian Conway’s Academic Assessment of Irish Sandwiches, which appears in issue three.

Toasties will be available to buy until sold out, and complimentary cocktails from Dingle Distillery will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Expect comfort, nostalgia, and a little mischief at Belfast’s newest local, Tom’s.

Phillip McCrilly is a Belfast-based artist and chef from The Moy, Co. Tyrone. Working across food, hospitality, and education, his practice examines their potential as artistic and pedagogical frameworks, attending to the social, affective, and institutional conditions of shared eating, learning, and gathering.

Formerly serving as a co-director of the artist-run spaces FRUIT SHOP and Catalyst Arts, as well as a participant in Gramounce’s first alternative MA in Food & Art Studies, his projects have taken the shape of co-designed communal dinners, scripted one-on-one massage performances in rented hotel rooms, and a series of cruising and foraging walks.
