Guzzle is officially launching its third print issue, A Hunger for Home, at Moyletts pub in East London, featuring a bakery pop-up inspired by an essay from the issue.
We’re throwing it back with a bakery pop-up from Katie Smith, inspired by Ali Dunworth’s essay Biscuits Used to Be a Big Deal, from issue three. Think nostalgic bakes, reimagined classics, and a few elevated jambons for good measure. Perfect after a couple of creamy pints.
“These tins have become a staple in every Irish home, used for storing all sorts of miscellaneous items — a sewing kit, Christmas cards, maybe tools for the shed. But before they served these varied purposes, they housed a whole wonderful, exciting world of biscuits.”Katie Smith is an Irish chef and food stylist based in East London, with a particular penchant for all things sweet. She has worked at renowned London bakeries and restaurants, including E5 Bakehouse and Wild By Tart. In 2025, she launched her bakery pop-up, Dulse, which received a warm reception. Recognised for her creativity and influence in the food world, Katie was recently added to Code’s prestigious 30 Under 30 list.
